Gail Cohen was born in Brooklyn. While completing the fine arts program at Brooklyn College during the 1960's, her involvement with photography took hold. She began then and continues to photograph street life, looking to integrate a humanistic approach into her work. With perseverance she has embraced new technologies and continues to explore new themes in her work which include still life and botanicals, environmental portraits, and travel.

Gail and her husband currently divide their time between the Hudson Valley and Brooklyn.
